Most Injured Runners believe “if I just rest the injury it will magically go away or the pain will go away.”

Here is the problem with this mentality: taking time off without proper rehab or addressing the root cause of the problem will often allow it to return. You will just be more frustrated again; possibly need to defer a race, skip a race or take even more time off to heal. Lots of money wasted on travel, race entrees, shoes and much more.

My client K.T. had a knee injury at the beginning of Summer 2024. By addressing her strength, mobility, stability and modifying her running and cross training sessions, she was able to to race on 9/29/24 with full confidence.

I did not say she stopped working out or running. She continued working on her mobility, strength and stability on a daily basis. It's KEY to stay active while recovering from injury. K.T. was able to participate in another 5k, The Teal Run, on 9/29, just six weeks after initial injury. She went from 46m 12s 2/10/2024 to 36min 49s 9/29/24, almost a 10 min PR by working with me for just a few months. 

As soon as she got injured, I was her sounding board on what to do and not to do. Not only was K.T. able to return to running quickly, only six weeks post knee injury, she was able to PR but most importantly, she was confident with her body and regained the joy of running. 

Now KT is able to return to her running community and not miss out on her weekend runs with her friends and husband. Being part of the running community is one of the best parts of being a runner in my opinion and if you are injured and missing the social outings and camaraderie of runners together it gets lonely and lets be real we all have FOMO. 

You do not need to be alone when you are injured. You can have a personal cheerleader to guide you through the injury, recovery and return to running safely and most importantly fun. If you do not have fun doing it then why do it in the first place?
